Promotional Products - Stand out from the crowd

    stand-out-from-the-crowdAs a Rhode Island business owner, you appreciate the value of promotional products both as tokens of appreciation for existing clients, and better still to get more exposure for your company and hopefully more sales – well let’s face it, you are running a business.

    When you optimistically hand out your promotional items to the receptive public remember that there is no guarantee they will buy products from you in the future, and secondly they may have received even better promotional products from your Rhode Island competitors!

    To ensure your brand is remembered above all others, you must stand out from the crowd.  So how can you achieve this when so many of your competitors are pitching for the same customers?  Here is some advice to help you along the way:

    Product Choice.  Choose the right promotional product for your target customers.  If not people will still obediently accept it when offered, but will just pop it into a dark drawer at home, never to resurface until they move house.  Very bad.  You need your promotional product to be used, to be cherished, to have lots of outings outside the house where the whole world can ‘umm’ and ‘ahh’ over its wonderfulness.  Am I being too optimistic?  Perhaps.  But ultimately your Rhode Island promotional product needs to be seen by as many people as possible to get more brand recognition.   

    So choose your promotional items well.  A product that has real use for a customer will get far more exposure than one that is just for show.   I’m talking about the ever favorite practical items such as mugs, calendars, bags, T-shirts, car bumper stickers etc. or of course, other practical items which appeal to your specific customers.

    Be Different.  Size counts, witty works.  Wherever possible, make sure that your promotional product is bigger and more obvious that its competitors.  No time to be shy.  Take the promotional pen as an example – much loved and much used.  But if someone has several to choose from, they will probably go straight for the biggest and brightest to hand. 

    Similarly with mugs, T-shirts, caps and car bumper stickers – a witty and amusing slogan is much more interesting and memorable.  These promotional items are likely to be shown to friends and acquaintances due to their unusual and entertaining nature (so long as you keep your humor clean!).   If it really hits the spot, you may find people taking photos of your promotional product and sharing it on Facebook with their friends - something of a collector’s item in the making! This might be an unusual achievement but it’s great to strive for and just imagine the brand exposure your Rhode Island business would get!
